The stand-off between police and rioters in Carandiru Penitentiary. On 2 October 1992, military police stormed the penitentiary following a prison riot. By the end of the day, 111 prisoners were dead, and 37 more were injured. No policemen were injured (São Paulo, Brazil 1992)
