Sailors of the Royal Navy being served with their rum ration (tot) at Portsmouth Barracks. It was establisted in 1655 at half pint per day, but drunkenness on board naval vessels became a problem so it was regularly reduced, until its abolition on 31 July 1970 (Portsmouth, UK 1933)
