Sinking of the Argentine Navy’s Brooklyn-class cruiser ARA General Belgrano, it was struck by torpedoes from the Royal Navy’s Churchill-class nuclear-powered submarine HMS Conqueror (S-48), during the Falklands War on May 2nd, 1982.
